Overview
Filtered metrics allow you to isolate a platform metric using one or more filter conditions. For example, you can create a metric that reports only Meta Ad Spend for Prospecting campaigns or Shopify Orders for a specific product category. To create a filtered metric, you’ll first define the data source and filter criteria, then use the Formula Builder to specify the metric you want to return.Step 1: Create a New Custom Metric
- From the left navigation menu, go to Performance Reports.
- Expand the submenu and select Custom Metrics.
- Click + Create New Metric in the upper-right corner.
- Enter a Title and Description for your custom metric.
Step 2: Configure the Metric
- Select the appropriate Data Source Category.
- Commerce for Shopify metrics.
- Media for advertising platforms such as Meta, Google Ads, or TikTok.
- Select the category that contains the data source you want to filter.
- Choose the specific Data Source you want to use.
- Set the Entry Type to Formula.
- Select the appropriate Metric Type (Currency, Percentage, Number, etc.).
Step 3: Define Your Filter
- Select the Dimension you want to filter by.
- For example, to filter Shopify Sales by Sales Channel, select Orders as the dimension.
- Once you’ve selected a dimension, the Filter Criteria section will appear.
- Choose the attribute you want to filter.
- For example, Sales Channel.
- Select an operator such as Contains, Does Not Contain, Equals, or another available option.
- Enter the value you want to filter by.
Step 4: Build the Formula
After your filter criteria have been configured, use the Formula Builder to define the metric.
- In the Formula Builder, select the platform metric you want to return.
- For example, if you’re filtering Shopify Total Sales by Sales Channel, select Total Sales.
- Review the formula preview to confirm it matches your intended logic.
- Click Save in the bottom-right corner to create your custom metric.
