# How to Manage Custom Tags

## Overview

**Custom Tags** allow you to manually categorize creative using labels that are specific to your client's creative strategy, naming conventions, or reporting needs.

Once applied, Custom Tags become available throughout Creative Reporting. You can use them to **group or filter creative in Top Performing Creative Reports** and to **build comparisons in Comparative Analysis Reports**.

Custom Tags are particularly useful for creative attributes that aren't already captured by platform data or SuperOrbital's AI-generated tags. For example, you might create tags for specific promotions, seasonal campaigns, influencer partnerships, products, messaging themes, or other client-specific creative strategies.

***

## Step 1: Open the Creative Library

From the left navigation menu, select **Creative**, located below the **Creative Reporting** menu item.

The Creative page displays a thumbnail gallery of the creative available across your connected advertising accounts.

Before searching for and tagging creative, use the controls at the top of the page to determine how you want to browse your Creative Library.

***

## Step 2: Choose Between Creatives and Ads

Use the **Creatives / Ads** toggle to determine how your Creative Library is organized.

* **Creatives** – Displays one card per individual creative asset.
* **Ads** – Displays one card per ad, including the associated creative strategy attributes and tags, such as format, angle, and other classifications.

Choose the view that best matches how you want to find and categorize your creative.

***

## Step 3: Search for Creative to Tag

SuperOrbital provides two ways to search your Creative Library.

### Keyword Search

Use **Keyword** when you know the specific words associated with the creative you're looking for.

Enter a keyword into the search box and SuperOrbital will look for matches across fields such as:

* Ad Name
* Ad Body Copy
* Ad Headline

### Semantic Search

Use **Semantic Search** when you want to search based on the meaning or concept of the creative rather than an exact keyword match.

Instead of entering a specific word, describe the type of creative you're looking for. SuperOrbital will return results based on how closely the creative matches the meaning of your search.

For example, you could search for creative featuring a particular product, visual concept, or messaging theme even if your exact search terms don't appear in the Ad Name or copy.

***

## Step 4: Narrow Your Creative Library

Use the **Source** dropdown to toggle between creative from **Facebook Ads** and **TikTok Ads**.

You can also use the AI Tag dropdown to browse creative that SuperOrbital has already categorized by attributes such as:

* Ad Format
* Angles
* Emotional Tone
* Other available AI-generated creative attributes

Use these controls alongside Keyword or Semantic Search to quickly find the creative you want to tag.

***

## Step 5: Select Your Creative

Once you've found the creative or ads you want to categorize, select a card to begin.

You can continue selecting individual cards or use **Select All on Page** from the action bar that appears at the bottom of the screen to apply the same tag to multiple results at once.

Once you've selected everything you want to categorize, click **Tag**.

***

## Step 6: Apply or Create a Custom Tag

From the Tag menu, you can either select an existing Custom Tag or create a new one.

To use an existing tag, simply select it from the available options.

To create a new tag:

1. Begin typing the name of your new tag.
2. If the tag doesn't already exist, select **Create "\[Tag Name]"** at the bottom of the dropdown.
3. Apply the new tag to your selected creative.

Create as many Custom Tags as needed to organize creative around the categories that matter to your team or client.

***

## Use Your Tags in Creative Reporting

Once your Custom Tags have been applied, they're ready to use throughout Creative Reporting.

Use them to **group or filter creative in Top Performing Creative Reports**, or incorporate them into **Comparative Analysis Reports** to compare performance across different creative strategies, themes, products, promotions, or other custom classifications.
