# Executive Summary Dashboard

## Overview

The **Executive Summary Dashboard** provides a high-level view of Shopify and paid media performance in one place. It combines sales and order data from Shopify with spend and performance data from all paid media platforms connected to SuperOrbital.

Use the Executive Summary to quickly understand how Shopify sales are performing against paid media investment and monitor holistic business KPIs such as **MER, CAC, and AOV**.

The Executive Summary is also the first dashboard you'll see when entering a client workspace in SuperOrbital.

***

## Dashboard Controls

Before reviewing the dashboard, there are a few controls at the top of the page that allow you to customize your view.

### Light & Dark Mode

Use the **Light/Dark Mode** toggle in the main SuperOrbital header to switch between display modes. This setting applies throughout SuperOrbital and can be adjusted based on your personal preference.

### Date Range

Use the **Date Range** selector in the upper-right corner to control the period displayed on the dashboard.

The Executive Summary defaults to the **Last 7 Days**, but you can dynamically adjust the dashboard to any date range you'd like to analyze.

### Comparison Period

Use the second date selector to choose the period you want to compare against.

By default, SuperOrbital uses the **Previous Period**, but you can select other preset comparison periods, such as **Previous Month** or **Previous Year**, or choose a completely custom comparison date range.

## Executive Scorecards

The scorecards at the top of the Executive Summary provide a quick snapshot of your client's most important business KPIs.

By default, the dashboard includes:

* **Gross Sales** – Gross Sales pulled directly from Shopify.
* **Total Orders** – Total Orders pulled directly from Shopify.
* **New Customers Acquired** – New Customer Orders pulled directly from Shopify.
* **AOV** – Shopify Gross Sales ÷ Total Shopify Orders.
* **Total Ad Spend** – The sum of Ad Spend across all paid media platforms connected to SuperOrbital.
* **MER** – Shopify Gross Sales ÷ Total Ad Spend.
* **CAC** – Total Ad Spend ÷ Total Shopify Orders.

### Customize Your Scorecards

The Executive Scorecards are the customizable portion of the Executive Summary Dashboard. You can add, remove, or reorder scorecards based on the KPIs that matter most to your client.

Before configuring your scorecards, confirm your client's Shopify revenue source of truth. If the client reports on **Net Sales** or **Total Sales** instead of Gross Sales, you can replace the default Gross Sales scorecard.

If certain Shopify sales channels, such as Wholesale or Point of Sale, should be excluded from reporting, you can create a **Custom Filtered Metric** and use that metric instead.

> **Important:** If you change the revenue metric used for reporting, you may also need to create custom versions of calculated KPIs that rely on revenue. For example, if your client uses Net Sales instead of Gross Sales, you'll need a custom MER metric that uses Net Sales in the calculation.

If your client spends on a paid media channel that isn't natively supported by SuperOrbital, you can also use the **Google Sheets Integration** to bring that spend into SuperOrbital and create a custom Total Ad Spend metric.

See **How to Manage Custom Scorecards** for instructions on customizing the scorecards displayed on the Executive Summary.

## Paid Ads KPI

The **Paid Ads KPI** graph provides a visual comparison of **Ad Spend and MER** over the selected date range.

Use this graph to quickly identify how changes in paid media investment correspond with changes in overall marketing efficiency.

You can also export the visualization as an image or download the underlying data as a CSV.

***

## Ads Performance Table

The **Ads Performance Table** provides a snapshot of paid media performance broken out by platform.

Metrics displayed within this table, including **Conversions** and **Conversion Value**, are pulled directly from each advertising platform. These metrics do **not** represent Shopify-reported orders or revenue.

Expand any paid media platform row to view its performance broken out by day.

***

## Ads Performance Trend

The **Ads Performance Trend** graph allows you to explore performance trends for individual paid media platforms.

Use the selector in the upper-right corner of the graph to toggle between your connected paid media sources.

For each platform, you can plot **Ad Spend** against any of the available performance metrics:

* Clicks
* AOV
* Conversion Value
* Impressions
* Conversions

Use this graph to understand how changes in spend correspond with platform-reported performance over time.
